What's New in Version 1.45 (Derrida)

What cannot be said, above all, must not be silenced, but written.”

Derrida
(1930 - 2004)

Jacques Derrida, one of the most prolific Algerian-French philosophers of the twentieth century, is celebrated as the cornerstone of deconstruction, an approach meant for understanding how something was created by breaking it down into smaller parts or ideas. Through analyzing these ideas, what they imply, how they work together, and how opposite ones interact, we realize that the overall object's purpose can have more than one meaning. The closer we look at an object, the more we find about how it works. Two opposites like "good" and "bad" are not different things. They only make sense when compared to each other.

In this respect, we believe that good product design is critical upon deconstructing the relationship between how its' smaller bits and pieces work together. With each new update, product harmony is a perpetual element of our process from inception to completion. Ultimately, this allows us to help your business capture value from usability, pleasure from appearance design, satisfaction from delivered quality, and truly make your customer experience exceptional.

Let's take a look at some of our important updates, themed around enhancing your visual communication and more, which are included in our v1.45 release:

PLATFORM UPDATES

  • Introducing Donations: a new feature that will allow you to engage your customers to contribute to your business operations and growth through a donation mechanism that is directly managed alongside your subscriptions. Through this feature, plans will have a new donation checkbox setting, which provides the distinction to this specific plan to be managed just like your regular plans, with the same billing lifecycle, except for restricting the site access which a typical subscription would provide.

  • Boosting your identity management security with Multi-factor authentication: This will enhance your organization's security by requiring your site collaborators to identify themselves using a second verification factor to gain access to your Pelcro account. This enhancement helps you limit vulnerabilities due to third party brute force attacks, and increases your confidence in the fact that your organization will have an additional line of defense to keep your information safe from cyber criminals.

  • You now have the ability to edit your site collaborator's details directly as needed. This eliminates the current hassle of either requiring collaborators to edit their own profiles themselves, and for the site owner or admin of having to delete and recreate a given collaborator when needing to adjust details in cases of any organizational changes.
1914
  • You should now have a new optional field on your product plans that will allow you to mark an invoice as uncollectible and will cancel the subscription immediately. This field will behave similar to, but will have precedence over, the current global "Automatic Uncollectible" subscription setting. So, for example, now you can provide different ranges of payment leniency for your different plan tiers at your control.
1758
  • We've also added thumbnail previews within sections of the platform where it would be visually useful to see or tell what the uploaded image relevant to each particular section is, such as site logo.
1904
  • We've tweaked the gift redemption flow in a way that when a recipient tries to redeem a gift, but the subscription donor's invoice isn't paid, the gift redemption will not take place. This will only be applicable to subscriptions which are on charge automatically, to minimize any repercussions on your revenue stream in case there are outstanding invoices which need to be actioned. This will be applicable to both the platform and the default UI.

INTERFACE REFINEMENT & CUSTOMIZATION

  • Our default interface now features a Newsletters section, which your users can access to directly subscribe to news concerning your newsletters, business activities, or other topics of interest. You would be able to configure the newsletters, and-users should be able to subscribe to newsletters from the dashboard. Newsletters can also be saved and pre-selected in the modal view. This saves you the step of having to create and customize a section for this purpose yourself, and helps you help you connect with more customers, boost your content marketing strategy, and have a plug and play section for stronger engagement.
531
  • Along your payment flow, the final product price on the default payment modal will now be broken down to subtotal amount, tax amount, and then total amount with taxes, depending on your tax configurations and location of the plans and products, to enhance payment transparency for your audience.
1280
  • Our philosophy of how some little changes can have a huge effect on usability will always be present. With that in mind, you can now dismiss the dashboard by clicking anywhere on your website outside of the dashboard area, without having to click on the close button.

SECURITY ENHANCEMENTS & BUG FIXES

There is always one more bug to fix, and there is always one more Pelcro engineer working to do it. Here are some of the fixes and enhancements for this release:

  • Security:
    • When password is changed/reset for admins, the platform will invalidate all active sessions and ask the admins to log back in by entering their credentials to mitigate any potential security threats or data compromise, in case they forget to log out from any public system.
  • Fixed:
    • We removed the timestamp from some of the dates sent to MailChimp so that they are more readable to the end-users.
    • We fixed behavior relating to changing subscriptions, specifically with phases array in API responses being hard coded to a specific schedule on all of the future phases in any subscription.
